Odissi Dance Classes
Discover the beauty of Odissi, one of India's oldest classical dance traditions. Whether you're taking your very first steps or continuing your journey, our structured semester-based curriculum is designed to help you grow with confidence, technique, and artistic expression.
Classes are taught in English in a welcoming and supportive environment where students learn not only movement, but also the rich cultural heritage behind the dance.
Class Schedule
Monday Evenings
Beginner 2 - 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
For students who have completed Beginner 1 or have prior Odissi experience.
Beginner 1 - 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Perfect for complete beginners. No previous dance experience is required.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum follows the syllabus designed by Pracheen Kalakendra and prepares you for the Examinations if you are interested to take them.
Semester Structure
The academic year is divided into two semesters.
Semester Duration
Semester 1 : August – December 2026 - ~16 Classes
Semester 2 : January – June 2027 - ~16 Classes
Each class is carefully planned so students build strong foundations while progressing steadily throughout the semester. Students are encouraged to enroll for the full semester to experience continuous learning and development.
Beginner 1 (Prarambik-1)
Building Strong Foundations
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for complete beginners with little or no prior experience in Odissi.
Throughout the semester, students will develop body awareness, posture, rhythm, coordination, and confidence while learning the essential foundations of classical Odissi dance.

Developing Technique & Expression
Who is this course for?
This course is intended for students who have completed Beginner 1 or possess equivalent experience.
Students will strengthen their technique while learning longer movement sequences, musicality, expressive storytelling, and more advanced choreography.

Students wishing to attend Beginner 1 and Beginner 2 simultaneously are welcome to do so, provided they meet the instructor's recommendation.

Class Guidelines
Attendance
Regular attendance is important for steady progress, as each class builds upon previous lessons. If you are unable to attend a class, please inform the instructor in advance.
Trial Classes
Free trial classes are offered at the start of each semester (January and August).
Outside these periods, a CHF 10 fee applies for a single trial session.
Missed Classes
A maximum of 4 missed classes can be carried forward to the next semester. Rest are not reimbursed and cannot be credited to future semesters.
Arrival
Please arrive 5 minutes before class so that lessons can begin on time.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations are only permitted for medical reasons and must be supported by a doctor’s certificate.
Without medical documentation, cancellations or refunds cannot be processed.
Clothing
Wear appropriate and comfortable clothing that allows free movement.
Students may dance barefoot or wear appropriate dance footwear if instructed.
Long hair should be tied back.
Please bring a water bottle.
Respectful Environment
Students are expected to contribute to a respectful and encouraging learning environment.
Please silence mobile phones during class.
Health & Safety
Students should inform the instructor of any injuries or medical conditions that may affect participation.
Participation is at the student's own responsibility.
Cancellation & Withdrawal
Semester fees remain payable once registration has been submitted.
If you wish to withdraw before the semester begins, please contact us as soon as possible. Refund requests after the semester has started will be considered only in exceptional circumstances.
